HYDERABAD: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to launch after December 7, may focus on around 100 parliamentary constituencies in 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Sources in TRS said that apart from Parliament seats in Telangana, AP, bordering constituencies in Maharashtra and Karnataka, the focus would be on constituencies requiring low poll spends.
"It is difficult to contest all 543 constituencies. Finding allies and resources is an arduous task. If we focus on 100 seats and give a tough fight in 50, including 17 in Telangana, then we could possibly emerge as a party with one of the largest number of MPs," said a party source.
TRS leadership has already said the focus would be on 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
P arty leader B Vinod Kumar said, “We would not be revealing any strategy or future action plan now. Our party supremo KCR will reveal the road map during the launch, probably in December. We have given public notification consecutively for two days asking for objections on name change. The period will end on December 7.” Political strategist Rajanikanth Errabelly said, “There are certain constituencies in Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh where with `2 crore one can win an election.
The official expenditure in big states has increased to `95 lakh and in small states to `75 lakh. Unofficial expenditure is also less in certain constituencies. But the big challenge is to get strong local leaders into BRS fold. These leaders will look at BRS only if BJP, Congress, JD (U) and RJD don’t offer them seats.” He added, “The political strength of individual leaders is also important apart from financial resources as BRS would not have any base in these areas.”
