SHIVAMOGGA/HASSAN: Three people of a family died in a road accident on Sunday night. The bike on which they were travelling collided with a car at Manchinkoppa village in Shikaripura taluk.
The deceased are Jyothi, 30, Gangamma, 50, and Soujanya, 4. Mallikarjun, who was riding the bike sustained injuries and is admitted at the Shikaripura taluk hospital.
Mallikarjun, his mother Gangamma, sister Jyothi and her daughter Soujanya had gone to Shiralakoppa to attend a function on Sunday and were returning home when the car hit their bike around 10.30pm.
Speaking to reporters, Shivamogga SP Mithun Kumar GK said that Kumar, the car owner from Shivamogga, was on his way home from Herekeruru of Haveri district when the two vehicles collided with each other. Shiralakoppa police have registered a case against the car owner under section 304 of the IPC and investigation is going on, he said.
Tourist bus hits treeA co-driver of a tourist private bus, which was carrying school children, hit a roadside tree at Ballur in Belur taluk, early on Monday. The students of a Mysuru-based school were on a trip to Horanadu Annapoorneshwari temple and Sharada temple in Sringeri of Chikkamagaluru district. The bus hit a tree at Ballur Cross while the driver was negotiating a curve. Nearly 45 students and a few teachers were in the bus. No case was filed as none of them were hurt.
