NOIDA: The traffic police have issued 7,974 challans in the first week of November Safety month. The traffic cops also suspended the driving licence of one person who was caught drunk driving. Another person’s car was seized for the same violation, and he also lacked the vehicle’s registration document. In the month-long campaign, the traffic department will conduct awareness and enforcement drives across the district.
Till Monday, the traffic police issued 3,471 challans for riding two-wheelers without helmet, followed by 1,172 challans for no parking, 1,070 for wrong side driving, 508 for driving without seatbelts, 455 for red light jumping, 225 for driving without driver's licence, 183 for faulty registration number plates, 170 for tripling on motorcycles, 143 for driving without vehicle insurance, 125 for not having air pollution clearance, 80 challans for creating noise pollution, 49 for using mobile phone while driving and 323 challans were issued for other traffic violations.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Ganesh Prasad Saha said the traffic police also seized 22 vehicles for various violations, including pollution norms.
Meanwhile, during the November Safety month, the traffic police are also organising awareness programmes in different schools and academic institutions to sensitise the students about traffic rules and make them traffic volunteers.
