Berhampur: Ahead of Chadakhai festival on Tuesday, officials of the Chilika wildlife division have intensified patrolling in and around the lake to prevent any poaching attempts, as demand for waterfowls goes up.
“In order to prevent the poaching of migratory birds during Chhadakhai, we have intensified patrolling since Sunday and pressed two extra mobile parties into action round-the-clock. Special emphasis has been laid in the vulnerable areas, like Nalabana (bird sanctuary) and the Tangi range,” P K Panda, assistant conservator of forests, Chilika division, said.
“Checking of vehicles, including fishing boats and motorcycles, has been intensified,” Tangi range officer Choodamani Murmu said.TNN
