MYSURU: The city-based Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSRTI) is conducting a training programme on ‘Silk and Silk Industry for international trainees’ in association with Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), under the Ministry of External Affairs.
GR Janardhan, director, International Centre, University of Mysore, inaugurated the programme on Monday. He stressed the need of sericulture technologies and training for the development of the silk industry.
R Dileep Kumar, advisor foreign affairs, Central Silk Board, spoke about the International Sericulture Commission and its role in conducting international training. Anuradha H Jingade, training division head and scientists and officials of CSRTI, Mysuru were present.
A total of 30 international candidates from countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Romania, Uganda, iran among others are attending the programme. The trainees will undergo 28-das of hands-on training in mulberry silkworm rearing besides classroom teaching and exposure visit to all the sectors in sericulture.
