JAIPUR: After receiving huge response from the two chaupatis in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB) has decided to extend the project to other cities as well. To begin with, RHB officials have decided to build one each in Kota and Jodhpur.
“It has already been one year since the chaupatis were opened in Mansarovar and Pratap Nagar. We received huge response from visitors in the past 12 months. So now it has been decided to construct more such chowpattis in other cities,” said a senior RHB official.
After inauguration, in the first five months the two chaupatis registered a footfall of 6,10,670 people. This has been recognised as an international record by the World Book of Records.
The Mansarovar chaupati was developed on Dwarkadas Marg near Dwarkadas Park with an area of 2,436 square meters.
It has 22 shops for different cuisines, selfie point, video walls and space for live musical performance.
The Pratap Nagar chaupati is at Haldighati Marg, in Sector-23 of Pratap Nagar on land measuring 3,780 square metre. It has 28 shops and other similar facilities like Masarovar chaupati.
“As per our initial plans we had decided to construct a few more at strategic locations in the city. But going by the response we got for these two, even though they are in remote corners of the city, we decided otherwise. We want to spread such projects across the state,” the official added.
Officials claimed that the construction for these two projects in Kota and Jodhpur is at its end stages. Soon officials would start floating the expressions of interest to give the shops on rent.
