No injuries reported following Port Huron apartment fire

The Port Huron Fire Department responded to a residential fire at about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of 10th Street.
According to Battalion Chief Dale Minard, the fire started in the first floor of a home split into two apartments. Investigators believe the fire began in the kitchen and spread to the rest of the apartment. The apartment sustained minor fire, water and smoke damage.
The upstairs apartment did not catch fire, however, it does have smoke damage.
Both families and their pets evacuated on their own from the structure without injury.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
