30 injured as Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus falls into pit

DHARMAPURI: At least 30 passengers were injured when a government bus they were travelling in fell into a roadside pit near Palacode here on Sunday.
The Mahendramangalam police said the incident occurred when the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus was heading to Dharmapuri from Hosur in Krishnagiri district via Palacode.
“When the bus neared Soodapatty village, the driver lost control over the vehicle at a blind turn, as the road was wet in the rain, and the bus fell into the roadside pit,” a police officer said.
When alerted, the Mahendramangalam police took the injured passengers to the government hospital at Palacode.
“Ten of them sustained fractures in the incident and they were admitted to the hospital, while the remaining others were treated as outpatients,” the officer said.
Police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
