BJP Mumbai chief Ashish Shelar said NOTA votes in the Andheri assembly constituency are not BJP votes, but those of Congress and NCP, and other MVA allies.
"Voters from one party do not vote for another party. We should look at the 2014 elections, where all parties contested separately. By the numbers from then, Rutuja Latke should have got 90,000 + votes, because she should have retained all Uddhav Thackeray Shiv Sena votes, plus got Congress and NCP votes also. This got stuck at 65-66,000. This shows voters of MVA constituent parties rejected Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena.
"What happened in Andheri East Assembly bypolls is a good thing. Maharashtra witnessed BJP's culture of stepping down and forfeiting a sure shot seat to cooperate with our sister (Latke). It is also clear that our help led to Latke's victory, because we stepped down on requests of Sharad Pawar, Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray himself," Shelar said.
