Ludhiana: The anti-narcotics cell of Ludhiana police commissionerate busted a gambling racket which was being operated from a house in Chandni chowk, Salem Tabri area. The police arrested eight persons, including a murder accused from the spot, and seized Rs 6 lakh in cash, playing cards, dice and tokens from them.
The accused have been identified as Darshan Singh, 38, of Chhawni Mohalla; Sahil Makkar, 32, of Gobind Nagar Kalgidhar Marg in Shimlapuri; Avtar Singh, 35, of Chhawni Mohalla; Rahul Kumar, 30, of Sunet village of New Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar; Pradeep Arora, 44, of Haqiqat Nagar of Haibowal Kalan; Tajinder Singh, 32, of Laxmipuri of Salem Tabri; Rahul Kumar, 45, of Manjit Nagar; and Shiv Kumar, 29, of Dhari Maral Colony in division number 4 area.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (investigation and zone 1) Rupinder Kaur Sra said Tajinder Singh is already facing trial in two murder cases lodged in 2016 and 2019 at Jodhewal and Salem Tabri police stations.
Sra said the police conducted a raid near Chandni chowk of Salem Tabri on the basis of a tip-off. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
