Air quality of Bhiwadi improves to ‘very poor’
Jaipur: Air quality in Bhiwadi has improved slightly in two days, which had turned “severe” on November 3 and November 4. However, it has been recorded in the “very poor” category for the past two days, which is causing problems for the resident of Bhiwadi as they have to breath polluted air.
Alwar’s Bhiwadi city is the most polluted place in the state as it falls in the national capital region (NCR), where deteriorating air quality has become a major cause of concern.
Apart from Bhiwadi, all the cities, part from Pali, where Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) monitors air quality, are also witnessing air pollution as the air quality is recorded in the “moderate” category. In Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur, the air quality remained in the “moderate” category for the past few days.
The cause of concern is air pollution in Bhiwadi for the state government and Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR & Adjoining Areas (CAQM). The CAQM is continuously monitoring the air pollution and issuing advisory for the states of NCR region including Rajasthan.
Reviewing the status of implementation of measures directed to restrict farm fire counts in Punjab, the CAQM held a meeting with the chief secretary and deputy commissioners of 22 districts of Punjab except Pathankot (no farm fire incidents reported). The primary focus of the review meeting was to assess the on-ground implementation of directions and reiterate the need for immediate intensification of actions to put a halt to sudden spike in stubble burning cases seen in the last few days in Punjab.
Recently, in a meeting with implementing agencies and bodies of the NCR Districts of Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, the CAQM reiterated to enhance the implementation of Stage I, II & III under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) with stringent actions including heavy penalties against gross defaulters flouting the Statutory Directions of the Commission.
