Daltonganj: The Red Cross Society, Palamu, will take care of the food requirements of 18 TB patients who belong to particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTG).
Palamu district TB officer Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav said 1,849 TB patients are undergoing treatment.
During a meeting at the collectorate on Saturday, DC Anjaneyulu Dodde asked the Red Cross Society here to ensure proper supply of food to the PVTG patients.
Under the Red Cross Society’s initiative, food items such as 3kg pulse, 1kg ground nuts, 1kg jaggery and 1 litre mustard oil, including one of the three optional food such as health drink, milk powder and sattu, will be provided to the patients for six months.
Besides, the patients will get Rs 500 a month during this period.
Srivastav said, “Me, along with Dr Vijay Kumar Singh (civil surgeon), Dr
Anil Kumar (additional chief medical officer) and Dr Perween Siddharth (orthopaedic surgeon) will get ourselves registered on the Nikshay portal in order to provide food to five TB patients each for six months."
Nikshay is a web-enabled patient management system for TB control under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme of the central government.
