Move to decongest traffic in Silk City

Berhampur: In a bid to ease vehicular traffic, the Ganjam administration has decided to remove encroachments and widen roads in the congested areas of Silk City. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the police, district administration and the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) here on Saturday.
“At the meeting, it was decided that a special team will be made which will identify areas that are congested, like the stretches around schools and colleges that get jam-packed during arrival and dispersal time, and make necessary arrangements,” Berhampur SP Sarabana Vivek M said.
The team will also identify parking space for two- and four-wheelers.The team will consist of police,revenue officers and civic officials.
Besides the SP and other officers, the meeting was attended by BeMC commissioner J Sonal and Berhampur sub-collector Ashutosh Kulkarni.
