BPL couple thrashed after spat with ration dealer in Alwar dist
Jaipur: A couple from BPL category was allegedly beaten up by at least five persons after their spat with a ration dealer at Naryanpur town in Alwar.
The couple was beaten with belts. While the couple was taking wheat in ration, some of it spilled which triggered a verbal spat that turned violent.
A large number of people on Sunday protested against the incident and demanded arrest of the ration dealer and other assailants.
According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday. Pooran Kumar (28) and his wife Reshma (26) were taking wheat when some wheat fell on the floor.
“The ration dealer asked them to pick it up and put it in the sack, to which both denied. This triggered a verbal spat that turned violent and the ration dealer along with four others thrashed them,” said a senior police officer.
The couple sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
“First, they were sent to government’s community health centre from where they were referred to the government hospital in Alwar,” the officer added.
On Sunday, an FIR was lodged in this case against the ration dealer identified as Phool Chand Saini by Ghyanshyam Prajapat, the elder brother of Pooran. “We have taken the statement of the injured and initiated investigation,” the officer added.
Meanwhile, the ration dealer too has lodged a complaint against the couple accusing them of beating him and snatching his gold chain.
