MANGALURU/UDUPI: Two persons died after a truck rammed into a scooter at Kallapu on National Highway-66 on Sunday. According to the police, the deceased is Gangadhar, 45, from Jeppinamogaru, and Nethravati, 48, from Pajeer.
The accident took place when Gangadhar was riding a scooter with Nethravati, and his daughter, Moksha, 4, and her nephew, Jnanesh, 6, from Pumpwell to Thokkottu. Police said the lorry driver, Haneef, drove the lorry from Kallapu Market towards the highway in a rash and negligent manner and rammed into the scooter.
Moksha and Jnanesh, who are injured, are recuperating in a private hospital. A case has been registered.
Woman ends lifeA 30-year-old woman ended her life by allegedly consuming rat poison. The deceased is Binsi Shaiju Thomas.
Police said Binsi was married to Shaiju Thomas and they have a daughter. Shaiju works in Dubai and she, along with her daughter, were staying on the first floor while her in-laws are staying on the ground floor of a building. Binsi reportedly consumed rat poison on October 26 at around 10pm and wrote a death note. She did not inform anyone about consuming poison. On October 31, she had severe vomiting and diarrhoea. She was admitted to a hospital in Bramhavar and was later shifted to another hospital in Manipal. She failed to respond to treatment and died on Saturday.
