
Mumbai News Live Updates, November 07, 2022: Congress leader Krishna Kumar Pandey died on Tuesday while participating in Bharat Jodo Yatra after he collapsed due to a heart attack during the march, the party informed. The leader is the General Secretary of Seva Dal in Maharashtra.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited a gurdwara in Nanded district of Maharashtra before resuming his Bharat Jodo Yatra foot march on Tuesday. He visited Gurdwara Yaadgari Baba Zoravar Singh ji Fateh Singh ji on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti a few hours after the yatra entered Maharashtra Monday night from Telangana.
Gokhale bridge, which is an important link between Andheri East and West, was closed for traffic from Monday morning for at least two years while the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) begins demolition and reconstruction of the bridge. Mumbai police have issued instructions on alternate routes to be taken by the public but suspect that it will take a few days for everyone to get to know them. However, on the first day of the bridge’s closure, traffic woes were caused, especially along SV Road and Western Express Highway.
The Supreme Court (SC) decision upholding 10 per cent quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) has reignited the issue of pending Maratha reservation in Maharashtra. Reacting to the decision, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said until the issue of Maratha reservation is resolved, economically weaker members of the community can benefit from the EWS quota.

A day after closing the Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge in Andheri for its much needed repairs, the BMC has started removal of all the abandoned vehicles from all the important roads adjoining the bridge to ease traffic movement. So far, notices have been served to owners of 25 such vehicles and civic officials said that these vehicles will be taken off the roads in next two days if no claim has been made.
Besides this, the civic body has also started removing of hawkers from the footpaths in Andheri (west). The civic body has appointed inspectors for morning and evening shifts to keep surveillance on the roads, so that the hawkers don't set up their stalls at the roadside, which eventually affects the regular traffic flow.
A fire broke out under a flyover on the Western Express Highway at Vile Parle in Mumbai. Nobody was injured in the incident. The blaze engulfed some scrap vehicles parked under the Andheri-Vile Parle bridge near Sahara Hotel a little before 4 pm.
The BMC said that 65 percent of the Rs 12,000-crore Mumbai Coastal Road Project was completed. The 10.58-km road is being built from Priyadarshini Park to Worli Sea Link, with tunnels on both the sides. The entire project is expected to be completed by November 2023.

A52-year-old man was badly injured when a heavy digging bar fell into his house from an under construction building in the western suburb of Mahim on Tuesday, a fire official said.
The incident took place at Meharbani compound at Kapad Bazar road around 1.30 pm, the official said.
The victim Jahangir Sheikh was inside his house when a digging bar from the highrise building nearby fell into the premises, he said.

"Pandey-ji was affectionately known as K K Pandey and he was an ardent Congress supporter. In Nagpur, he worked tirelessly for the party. He breathed his last holding the Tricolour," Ramesh added.
Pandey was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and upon arrival at the hospital, he was declared dead, Ramesh said. His body was brought back to the campsite where Rahul Gandhi, other leaders, workers and Bharat Yatris paid their last respects to the departed soul. His body was handed over to his son Sheelaj Pandey who is also part of the yatra. Seva Dal members accorded the guard of honour to Pandey's remains.
The Dapoli police in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri on Tuesday registered a cheating case against MLC Anil Parab, a leader from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, and two others in connection with the alleged Dapoli resort fraud case.
The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, who has been alleging several irregularities in the construction of Sai Resort in Dapoli, which as per his claim, is owned by Parab, a former minister, and Sadanand Kadam. Read more

The Thane police on Tuesday registered an FIR against NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad and several supporters who accompanied him at Viviana mall in Thane on Monday night for forcibly shutting down the screening of the Marathi film Har Har Mahadev.
Awhad led a number of NCP supporters inside the theatre and asked the patrons to leave, asserting that the movie allegedly “distorted the Maratha history and such movies would not be allowed to be released in the state”. Read more
