LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh will get a 'New Jim Corbett Park'. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has cleared the proposal and it is expected to get the state cabinet nod soon. The tiger reserve will be carved out in UP's Bijnor district which shares the border with the Jim Corbett Park in Uttarakhand.
The government will also promote ecological and Ganga tourism in the new reserve.
UP forest and environment minister Arun Kumar Saxena said a part of Jim Corbett Park comes in Bijnor and is known as Amangarh tiger reserve. "So we are considering naming it New Jim Corbett," he added.

“I t will be approved by the cabinet soon and then a blueprint will be finalised. India has been working towards tiger conservation for the last two decades and as a result of this, the number of tigers in the country has doubled in the last eight years,” he said.
Yogi is of the view that cultural, religious and wildlife tourism of UP will play an important role in making the state re- alise $1 trillion economy goal, an official said, adding that the government is going to launch a campaign to protect the areas where tigers move. The aim behind creating the ‘New Jim Corbett’ is to provide a safe haven to the locally variable wildlife population and to protect the unique forest area.
The forest area spread over 80 sqkm in Amangarh, Bijnor, will be made a tiger safari. As per the government, UP has 171 tigers. Apart from this, facilities of world tourist destinations will also be made available to tourists. It will also generate employment opportunities for local residents.
“Along with tiger safari, tourists coming here will also enjoy many types of birds, flora, rivers, waterfalls, plains and mountains. Apart from this, tourists will also be able to see leopards, tigers and deer from close range,” the officer added.
Apart from jungle safari, activities like elephant ride, camping, trekking will also be opened for tourists. All arrangements will be made here for tourists to stay. Along with government rest places with state-of- the-art facilities, private hotels will also be opened here
