After the first few rounds of counting, the BJP is leading in Uttar Pradesh's Gola Gokarannath, Haryana's Adampur, Odisha's Dhamnagar as counting of votes got underway on Sunday in the bypolls to seven assembly constituencies in six states. The RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) is one up in Bihar after winning the Mokama assembly seat by over 16,000 votes.
The K Chandrashekar's Rao's Telangana Rashtriya Samithi is ahead in Munugode and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction is set for a win in Mumbai's Andheri East seat.
While the results are likely to upset the math for current state governments, the contests are seen as a battle for family legacy in Haryana and prestige battles in Telangana, Bihar and Maharashtra.
With regional parties putting up a united front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections - just a year and a half away - the poll results could serve as booster shots, or perception busters, depending on the results
The fierce battle is between Bharatiya Janata Party and regional parties such as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Bihar Election 2022: Mokama seat retained by Tejashwi Yadav's RJD
RJD candidate Neelam Devi contested the Mokama by-polls after the seat fell vacant following her husband Anant Singh's disqualification over a corruption case. She defeated the BJP's Sonam Devi by over 16,000 votes.

UP Election: BJP candidate leading by over 28,000 votes
BJP candidate Aman Giri has taken a comfortable lead of about 28,000 votes over his nearest rival as counting of votes progressed in the Gola Gokarannath assembly bypolls on Sunday. While Mr Giri has got 73,371 votes so far, Samajwadi Party's Vinay Tiwari got 48,739 votes, officials said after the 18th round of counting.

BJP candidate Aman Giri has taken a comfortable lead of over 10,000 over his nearest rival as counting of votes progressed in the Gola Gokarannath assembly bypolls on Sunday. While Mr Giri got 36,528 votes so far, Samajwadi Party's Vinay Tiwari got 25,621 votes, officials said.
