Ranchi/Bokaro: The income tax (I-T) department raids against Congress MLAs — Kumar Jaimangal alias Anup Singh and Pradeep Yadav — and businessmen continued for the second day consecutive day till late in the evening on Saturday across various locations in
Jharkhand and other states, including Bihar, Haryana and West Bengal.
Though sources approached media houses with claims that whooping amounts of money are recovered during the raids, the I-T department officials remained tight-lipped and they are unwilling to confirm or deny the recoveries throughout the day. Both MLAs spoke to the media to explain the recoveries from their respective locations.
Apart from the premises of the MLAs, the establishments of their relatives and close associates in Ranchi, Bermo, Godda, Chatra and other districts of Jharkhand were also raided. There was no confirmation from the I-T officials if the raids have concluded.
Meanwhile,
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey tweeted claiming that crores of rupees have been seized by I-T officials in Godda. He also said documents related to huge assets have also been recovered.
Meanwhile, Poreyahaat MLA Pradeep Yadav released a 45-second video clip from his official residence late in the evening saying that Rs 16,400 has been seized from his possession while Rs 10,000 was found on his driver. “All these claims of crores or Rs 200 crores are blatant lies. What’s the truth, only the I-T officials can say. I have been open to the public like a book and I continue to remain so,” he said in the footage.
