Coronavirus in India live updates: India reports 1,132 Covid cases and 14 deaths in last 24 hours

The active Covid cases have declined to 14,839. This comes to 0.03 per cent of total cases. The Covid recovery rate has increased to 98.78 per cent. China's capital Beijing reported 43 symptomatic and six asymptomatic cases, compared with 37 symptomatic and five asymptomatic cases the previous day, local government data showed. Financial hub Shanghai reported no symptomatic and five asymptomatic cases.

Around 200 residents of Tibet's capital Lhasa were detained in the wake of massive protests last week after China imposed covid lockdown that restricted the residents to their homes with inadequate food and medical equipment, Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported.

China has reported 4,610 new Covid infections, of which 588 were symptomatic and 4,022 were asymptomatic, the National Health Commission said on Sunday.

Chennai added 30 new cases to the tally while the rest were spread across other districts. Eight of the 38 districts reported zero new cases. The State capital leads among districts with 249 active infections and overall 7,92,816 cases.

Tamil Nadu has reported 119 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the tally to 35,92,696 till date, the Department of Health said on Saturday. There were no fresh fatalities and the overall death toll remained unchanged at 38,048, a bulletin said here. As many as 204 people got recuperated from the virus in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 35,53,509 leaving 1,139 active infections.

Delhi recorded 68 fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday with a positivity rate of 1.37 per cent, and one more person died due to the viral disease, according to the data shared by the health department here.
