Man held for harassing minor girl

Thiruvananthapuram: Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for sexually harassing a minor girl at the Parassala police station limit. The arrested is a native of Adakkakuzhi in Pozhiyoor.
Police said the accused came to the house of a neighbour of the 15-year-old girl last week.

The girl was sweeping outside the house and the accused realized that the girl was alone at the house at that time. When she went inside, the accused trespassed into the house and molested the girl.
Hearing the noise of the girl, neighbours rushed to the house. But the accused escaped through the back door of the house. Following it, police were informed and a case was registered on a complaint filed by her parents.
The neighbour, however, claimed ignorance of the identity of the accused and it became tougher for the police to identify him. Police got the number of the two-wheeler in which the accused reached the place when the CCTV footage was checked.
A team of police headed by the station house officer, Hemanth Kumar, arrested him from his house on Friday night. The accused has been remanded after producing before a court. Police said he is also an accused in other Pocso cases registered at other stations too.
