Jaipur: A 38-year-old farmer got a bullet injury on his back when a man fired in air in jubilation at a wedding at Mandoli village under Rudawal police station area late on Friday evening. Police have lodged a case under arms act and have arrested the accused for firing with an illegal weapon.
According to police, the incident took place at 11 pm on Friday when a baraat came from Khanua village to Mandoli village under Rudawal police station area in Bharatpur. “People were dancing to the tunes of the band and the baraat was about to enter inside the marriage lawn when a youth opened fire in jubilation. The bullet hit one farmer identified as Hari Dutt who was returning home. The bullet pierced into the lower back of the farmer who fell down. Later some persons informed the police control room,” said a senior police officer.
As the bullet hit the victim the people in the wedding and others in the village caught the accused identified as Amitabh who had fired. “Our team reached the spot and the farmer was hospitalised. The primary investigation suggested that it was not a targeted firing as the youth had opened fire in jubilation. He was arrested, and the country-made pistol was seized from him,” said Rudawal SHO Prem Singh.
