Gurgaon: The Haryana State Pollution Control Board on Friday issued a show-cause notice to HSIIDC and imposed Rs 25 lakh as environmental compensation for failing to stop illegal garbage dumping and burning -- measures mandated under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) -- in Bahadurgarh.
According to HSPCB officials, an inspection by its team found that solid waste was dumped and burned in the industrial estate of Sector-16, 17, 4B and other nearby areas.
The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) manages civic amenities in Bahadurgarh.
“We conducted a site inspection to ensure effective implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) and found deterioration of air quality at the site on Sector-16, 17 and 4B in Bahadurgarh in gross violations of the guidelines. We also found waste from industries that were burnt in the area. We have sent a show-cause notice to HSIIDC. They have 15 days to submit the compensation amount,” Shakti Singh, HSPCB regional officer, Bahadurgarh.
HSIIDC officials could not be reached for comment till Friday evening.
