Drug peddlers arrested
Ludhiana: City police busted drug smuggling rackets in three separate cases in the city. In the first case, Ludhiana police busted a drug supply racket being run by a Nigerian national settled in Delhi. Police arrested him and his five accomplices and recovered 360gm heroin, Rs 14,600 drug money, two cars, a scooter and a bike from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Ebuka Pronsper of Nigeria, Prince Sidhu of Daresi, Paramjit Singh of Pawat village, Zirakpur, Kulwinder Singh of Dashmesh Colony, Mohali, Daljit Singh of Phull Khurd village, Rupnagar and Rohit Kumar of Morinda, Ropar. Police arrested the accused from different locations, including Ludhiana, Haryana and Delhi.
Police commissioner Dr Kaustubh Sharma said that Prince Sidhu was arrested in the course of special checking, during which 50gm heroin was recovered from him.
In the second case, the Anti-narcotic cell recovered a commercial quantity of poppy husk from Jaswinder Singh of Phase-1, Dugri. Deputy commissioner of police- investigation said that the team arrested Jaswinder and recovered 52kg poppy husk. Further, ACP Narcotics and PBI, Ashok Kumar said that in another case, Rajveer Singh of BRS Nagar was arrested from near Ishmeet Chowk and 135gm heroin was recovered from his possession.
