3 seniors blackmail Thane engineering student with porn video & extort Rs 30 lakh

KALYAN: Three persons from Kolhapur have been booked for blackmailing an engineering student from Dombivli and extorting Rs 30 lakh from him.The trio-Sagar Rajput, Shubham Jadhav and Rohan Sanghraj-were the victim's seniors in a private engineering college in the district.
Rajput has been arrested, and police have launched a search for his two accomplices.
While the three accused completed their engineering last year, the victim, who is the son of a businessman, is in his third year. He alleged that in August 2021 the accused had thrown a party after graduating and had invited him for it. It was held in a farm house where they allegedly served him juice laced with sedatives and shot a porn video using a woman. They then began blackmailing him by threatening to make the video viral.
According to an official, rattled by their threats, the student began stealing gold ornaments from his Dombivli home during his visits. He would hand over the jewellery to them in Kolhapur. The accused had managed to extort a total of 800 grams of gold worth over Rs 30 lakh over a year.
The victim said their frequent demands prompted him to confess about the incident and the video to his parents. They decided to file a complaint, and police registered an FIR on Thursday.
Police sources said a team is camping in Kolhapur to arrest the two absconding suspects.
