Iran acknowledges sending drones to Russia for first time
Iran's foreign minister on Saturday acknowledged for the first time that his country has supplied Russia with drones, insisting the transfer came before Moscow's war on Ukraine that has seen the Iranian-made drones divebombing Kyiv.
The comments by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian come after months of confusing messaging from Iran about the weapons shipment, as Russia sends the drones slamming into Ukrainian energy infrastructure and civilian targets.

At least 10 shops gutted in fire on Mumbai's Fashion Street, nobody injured
At least 10 shops located on the Fashion Street, a roadside apparel market in south Mumbai, were gutted in a fire on Saturday afternoon, but nobody was injured in the incident, a civic official said.
The fire broke out in one of the shops on the Fashion Street near Churchgate around 1 pm, and soon spread to some of its adjoining stores, he said.
"After the fire brigade was alerted about the incident, six fire engines were rushed to the spot," the official said, adding that the blaze was extinguished in around 15 minutes.

15 killed in Russia cafe blaze after flare gun discharged
A fire in a cafe in the Russian city of Kostroma killed 15 people on Saturday, emergency said.
The blaze erupted in the early hours after someone apparently used a flare gun during a dispute, authorities said.
Rescuers were able to evacuate 250 people. Kostroma is located roughly 340 kilometers (210 miles) north of Moscow.

PM Modi visits Radha Soami Satsang in Punjab, meets with dera chief
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited the Radha Soami Satsang Beas dera in Punjab and met with its head Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon Punjab Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa received the prime minister at the airport.
Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua and DGP Gaurav Yadav were also present on the occasion.
PM Modi had met the dera chief in Delhi early this year in February ahead of the Punjab assembly elections.

One dead, dozens hurt as tornadoes hit Texas and Oklahoma
Tornadoes tore through parts of Texas and Oklahoma on Friday, killing at least one person, injuring two dozens others and leaving dozens of homes and buildings in ruins.
Tornadoes hit hard in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, in the southeastern corner of the state. Cody McDaniel, the county's emergency manager, confirmed one death although he didn't immediately provide details.
The small town of Idabel saw a church, medical center and a school torn apart.
“There was total destruction on the south and east sides of Idabel,” Steven Carter, an emergency management coordinator for McCurtain County, told the Texarkana Gazette.
MS Dhoni moves Madras HC seeking criminal contempt proceedings
Former Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has filed before the Madras High Court, a criminal contempt of court plea against Indian Police Service (IPS) officer G Sampath Kumar for allegedly making remarks against the Supreme Court on the issue relating to the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting case.
The former cricketer also sought compensation of Rs 100 crore from the officer for making match-fixing allegations against him. The case was listed on Friday, however, it could not be heard and is likely to be heard on Tuesday.
Kumar had investigated the 2013 IPL spot-fixing and betting cases.
The court had restrained, in 2014, Sampath Kumar from passing any remarks against MS Dhoni.
Croatia soccer body fined by UEFA for racist fan incidents
Croatia's soccer federation was punished by UEFA for "racist and discriminatory behavior” by fans at the team's last game before traveling to the World Cup.
UEFA did not specify the incidents at Croatia's 3-1 win at Austria in the Nations League in September, which were reported to be insults directed by fans at the federation and far-right chants.
UEFA ordered a section of the stadium to be closed when Croatia hosts Wales in March to open their 2024 European Championship qualifying group.
After Habibganj and Hoshangabad, few more areas to be renamed in Bhopal
A year after the Madhya Pradesh government renamed Bhopal's Habibganj railway station as Rani Kamlapati, the process to rechristen other localities in the city has begun.
At least three localities, including a hill area - Lal Ghati where Bhopal's central jail is located, will be renamed.
Two other areas of the capital city which would go through the same process are Halalpur bus stand and Halal Pur colony. A proposal in this regard has been unanimously approved by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).
RSS postpones November 6 events in Tamil Nadu
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has decided to postpone its scheduled route marches and other events scheduled for November 6 and appeal against a single judge order of the Madras High Court granting permission for the events with conditions.
A Sangh source on Saturday confirmed that the organisation has decided to postpone the route marches and public meetings, which were allowed by the High Court to be held in 44 locations across Tamil Nadu, as against the 50 it wanted to.
The single judge bench of Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan had on Friday permitted the RSS to take out route marches and hold public meetings at 44 places in Tamil Nadu on November 6 subject to certain conditions.
Shalimar LTT Express catches fire near Nashik
A fire broke out in the luggage compartment of Shalimar LTT Express near Nashik in Maharashtra, said officials on Saturday.
The Central Railways informed that the incident occurred at 8.43 am and the passenger bogies have remained unaffected by the fire.
"A fire was reported in the luggage compartment of Shalimar LTT Express near Nashik. The luggage compartment detached from the train. Passenger bogies unaffected," said Central Railway.
Landslides and floods kill seven in eastern Venezuela
Landslides and floods caused by heavy rains have killed at least seven people in the coastal state of Anzoategui in eastern Venezuela, regional authorities announced on Friday.
Six bodies were found in the city of Puerto La Cruz, and another, that of a child, in the nearby town of Guanta, said state governor Luis Marcano.
"The whole hill fell down... We are all affected," said Richar Vardagreda, a resident of Puerto La Cruz.
India's first voter dies in Himachal Pradesh
India's first voter Shyam Saran Negi died on Saturday morning at his residence in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur. He was over 100 years old.
On November 3, Negi had cast his vote through postal ballot for the state's Assembly polls, the Election Commission said.
The EC mourned Negi's demise and said he had great faith in democracy.
PFI ban: Delhi court grants interim bail to one accused
A Delhi court has granted interim bail to one accused for a period of 60 days on the grounds of the pregnancy of his wife and noted that the scheduled delivery is in mid-November.
The accused Sayed Shallauddin was arrested last month by Delhi Police in PFI related case registered under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

1,082 fresh COVID-19 cases in India
India's coronavirus tally climbed to 4,46,59,447 on Saturday with 1,082 fresh infections, while the number of active cases declined to 15,200, according to Union health ministry data.
The toll due to the viral infection climbed to 5,30,486 with seven fatalities, including two deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.78 per cent, according to the ministry's website.
A decrease of 505 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

On Friday, Italian Climate activists threw pea soup over Vincent Van Gogh's 'The Sower' painting at the Kroeller-Mueller museum in the Netherlands.
According to the New York Post, four women who belonged to the environmental group Ultima Generazione (Last Generation) directed the stunt and shouted slogans against global warming and fossil fuels.
"These issues should be on the front pages of the news channels and political agendas every minute, but are instead only addressed with 'scandalous' actions like the one this morning," the group said in a statement, the New York Post reported.
Previously, in London, environmental protestors from the group Just Stop Oil threw tomato soup on Van Gogh's 'The Sunflowers' painting at London's National Gallery.

Had 'no role' in disqualification of Azam Khan, says UP Assembly Speaker
Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana has said he had "no role" in the disqualification of Samajwadi Party MLA Azam Khan following his conviction in a hate speech case, dismissing RLD president Jayant Chaudhary's charge of bias.
In a letter to Chaudhary on Friday, Mahana said, "At the level of Speaker, no decision to cancel any membership is taken in the event of any member being punished by the court."
A copy of the letter went viral on social media.
Mahana could not be reached for his comments on the matter, but sources in the assembly secretariat confirmed that the letter had been sent to Chaudhary.
Chaudhary had written to the speaker on October 29 recording his concerns over the prompt disqualification of Khan.
In his letter, the Rajya Sabha member wrote, "The membership of senior Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan has been cancelled with immediate effect by your office taking a quick decision in the hate speech verdict by the special MP-MLA court."

Closest known black hole to Earth spotted by astronomers
Astronomers have discovered the closest known black hole to Earth, just 1,600 light-years away.
Scientists reported Friday that this black hole is 10 times more massive than our sun. And it's three times closer than the previous record-holder.
It was identified by observing the motion of its companion star, which orbits the black hole at about the same distance as Earth orbits the sun.
The black hole was initially identified using the European Space Agency's Gaia spacecraft, said Kareem El-Badry of the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics.

Farmers in Odisha's Kendrapara district protested on Friday, demanding water for irrigating their fields.
They blocked the Kendrapara-Gandakhia Road at Ayeba Chhack, stating that many villages in Kendrapara block were not receiving water for agriculture.
Farmers in Kendrapara, Pattamundai, Jamboo and Marsaghai get water from the canals in October to grow black grams, green grams, potatoes, sugar canes and vegetables. However, this year the thin flow of water in the canals has caused an alarm, said Madhab Das, the vice-president of the district unit of Krusaka Sabha.
