VARANASI: To ensure a ‘divine’, ‘grand’ and ‘spectacular’ organisation of ‘Dev Deepawali’ on November 7 in Varanasi, the Yogi Adityanath government will not only illuminate the holy city with record 10 lakh diyas, but also the magnificent Kashi Vishwanath Dham will be adorned with flowers worth Rs 80 lakh, adding to the grandeur.
The Kashi Vishwanath Temple premises will be decorated with diyas and flowers for two days and mesmerise lakhs of tourists and devotees from all over the world who have started arriving in the city.
According to divisional commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma, to make the celebrations spectacular, a well-known decorator from Visakhapatnam has volunteered to decorate the Kashi Vishwanath premises free of cost.
‘Lakhs of tourists and devotees are expected to visit Varanasi to witness the celebrations and offer prayers at Kashi Vishwanath temple,” he added. It has been decided to celebrate Dev Deepawali on November 7 due to the occurrence of lunar eclipse on November 8 on the day of Kartik Purnima. The festival is celebrated at more than 80 ghats of Varanasi, with innumerable lamps lit on the banks of the Ganga. This time, a total of 10 lakh diyas will be lit on the banks of the sacred river.
