Bihar: Magistrate, 3 cops injured in Jamui sand mafia attack

PATNA: Sand mafia seem to have no fear of police and law in the state. On Thursday evening, they attacked and injured three police personnel and a magistrate heading the raiding team at Chhattu Dhanama under Town police station area in Jamui district. The sand mafia, with the help of locals, also fired several rounds in the air.
Jamui SP Shaurya Suman said four persons involved in illegal sand mining and attacking the policemen were arrested. He said an FIR had been lodged and the tractors used in carrying illegal sand had been seized.
Sources said Shivam Kumar Mritunjay, a magistrate to check the illegal sand mining and overloading of vehicles, along with sub-inspector Shyamlal Kishore and constables Pankaj Kumar and Yogendra were injured in the attack. They were rushed to the Sadar hospital for treatment.
