‘SWM cess high for industries’

Mangaluru: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) president M Ganesh Kamath said that the solid waste management (SWM) cess on industries is too high in Mangaluru, compared to the rest of the state.
He was speaking at a felicitation programme organised to honour mayor Jayanand Anchan, at the KCCI hall here on Thursday.
The KCCI president said that the SWM cess on industries was high, and moreover, there is no differentiation between commercial and residential units, leading to huge disparity in taxation.
