PANAJI: Director of education Shailesh Zingde said on Friday that the 88 teachers being recruited on contract basis next week by the directorate are only to fill up leave vacancies. He said that the process of filling up 142 permanent posts is simultaneously on.
“The vacancies being filled with the 88 contract teachers are those left due to teachers having gone on maternity leave or child care leave. The salary paid is around Rs 39,000. Seeing the amount, those who are on long-term work contracts elsewhere should not give up their jobs to apply here. These vacancies may be three- to six-month-long,” Zingde said.

He said that the initial process of recruitment for the 88 posts will be done at the taluka level to avoid causing a huge rush for the recruitment from November 7 to 9 at the directorate’s headquarters in Porvorim. In the case of most talukas, on November 7 the application will be accepted at the ADEI’s office.
“Those with teacher eligibility test certificates will be given preference. Final selection will be done after the candidate gives a teaching demonstration of up to 10 minutes. Those who have done BEd need not apply for the post, as they will not be eligible. Those with previous teaching experience will be given preference,” he said.
The candidate should have scored at least 45% marks at Class XII level, Zingde said.
