Ludhiana: State-level science fair-cum-exhibition under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) was organised at Residential School for Meritorious Students, here. The students showcased their science projects and models under various themes like agriculture and food security, energy resources and conservation, health, environmental issues and concerns, science and everyday life, disaster management, and science games and toys.
In Class-10 level, Arshpreet Singh Saini of Mata Gujri GSSS, Fatehgarh Sahib bagged the first prize for making a voice-controlled robot using artificial intelligence, which was inspired from fictional character Iron Man. He gave it three instructions and can give seven more.
Sukhchain Singh of GSSS Jhoomba, Bathinda got the second position for making a laser-operated leveller which could be used by farmers to level uneven farms. Samiksha Sharma of GSSS Civil Lines, Patiala bagged the third position for making a bluetooth-operated ‘smart helmet’ where the two-wheeler won’t start unless the rider wears the helmet. It would also monitor the alcohol content and won’t start if the biker is under influence.
Simranjeet and Jasmeet Kaur of GSSS Jagraon made an onion store house using dehumidifier compressor to help store onions in Punjab for a long time. Ajit Pal Singh from GHS Dhoolkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib has made an energy-saving flyover and streetlight which turns on automatically when it gets dark.
Under 6th-8th category, Ritu from GSSS, Wajidpur bagged the first position, Arshdeep Kaur of GHS Tolawal, Sangrur got second, and Jaskamal Singh of GMS, Hoshiarpur got the third position..
The event was inaugurated by Vishavkirat Kahlon, principal Residential School for Meritorious Students. Sushil Bhardwaj, project coordinator, SCERT, and Jasvir Singh Sekhon, DM (science) presided over the function.
