Vadodara: Out to rob phone, accused raped woman target

VADODARA: Preliminary interrogation of the accused arrested for raping a woman on Monday night in Jarod on the Halol highway has revealed that the plan was only to rob a mobile phone, but seeing the woman target, one of them decided to rape her.
The young who was taking a walk after dinner was also speaking to a friend on her mobile phone. At that time the four accused approached her and then one allegedly raped her while robbing her phone too.
According to sources, the woman noticed that someone was following her and mentioned about it to her friend too. Police inspector M C Parmar of Jarod police station said that the four accused were looking to rob a mobile phone. However, one of the accused Sanjay Chudasama decided to rape her.
The accused allegedly took the woman to an isolated place and Chudasama raped her. Chudasama was accompanied by Pravin Solanki and Vitthal Solanki who had held the rape survivor. Another accused Aryan Kale was keeping a watch nearby.
Parmar said that the accused had thrown away the mobile and the police after the incident are now trying to recover it. He added that an identification parade of the accused as well as a reconstruction of the incident will also be conducted.
