Coimbatore: Jamaat leaders visit Sangameswarar temple, meet priests

COIMBATORE: In a goodwill gesture, members of the Federation of All Jamaats, Coimbatore, visited Sangameswarar temple at Kottaimedu in the city. They interacted with the priests of the temple.
The car blast in front of the temple on October 23 had killed IS sympathizer Jameesha Mubin on the spot.
Office-bearers from Idhayatull Islam Shafia Jamaat, Thareekathu Islam Shafia Jamaat and Kerala Muslim Jamaat located at Kottaimedu, also visited the temple along with the members of the federation. They were welcomed by the temple authorities and the priests.

Later speaking to reporters, general secretary of the federation M A Inayathulla said Muslims have been residing in the locality for more than seven generations with Hindus as their neighbours.
“We may differ in our faiths and beliefs but we live together as brothers. Islam does not teach violence. It teaches only peace,” Inayathulla said.
He said that the unity of Hindus and Muslims cannot be separated by any external force. “Political leaders should not use religion for politics and they should allow the people to lead a peaceful life,” Inayathulla said.
