Civic body records to be digitalised
Ludhiana: The old and decayed records stacked on old shelves would be a thing of past in the civic body as the entire record will now be available on a digital platform. The task will begin with scanning of records on property tax, and other branches will be covered gradually.
The officials have prepared a detailed project report for the work. Tracking of all documents will be done digitally so that none of the clerks or superintendents could delay work unnecessarily. The residents too would be able to track status of their works online.
The officials said there are at least 50 lakh documents to be scanned and stored in digital format. The civic body has record files way back to 1952 where letters were written in Urdu language.
An official claimed that World Bank had laid down certain conditions for giving away loan for 24x7 canal-based water supply project for the city. He said as part of reforms, the staff are already getting trained for these new changes. tnn
