Tamil Nadu: ‘In IS style, Mubeen shaved his body before mission’
Mubeen drew the IS flag on a black slate
COIMBATORE: Jamesha Mubeen, 29, the suspected terrorist who died in the car explosion in front of Sangameswarar temple at Kottaimedu, had shaved his body before the mission, a usual practice by suicide bombers following the ideology of Islamic States (IS), sources told TOI.
"His body was not fully burnt and there was enough skin that showed he had shaved his body before the incident," said an officer involved in the preliminary investigation.
"In a CCTV footage Mubeen was seen in shirt and trousers. Later he shaved off his body hair with a trimmer (recovered by police) and took bath and changed into other clothes. He offered prayers and drew the IS flag using a chalk on a black slate," said the source.
Along with a prayer which is emblazoned on the IS flag, the source said, Mubeen scribbled on the slate in Tamil, when translated means, 'those who dare to touch the house of Allah will be uprooted'. "We got material that shows he was influenced by videos of Sri Lankan Easter blasts mastermind Maulvi Zaharan Bin Hashim," said the source.
Mubeen also left a scribbling on a white paper that mentioned "the call of duty of Jihad", an officer said. "He mentioned that it was the duty of the youth - not children and elderly people - to wage the holy war (jihad). He listed humans under two categories in another scribbling as Muslims and Kafirs. One of the scribblings read 'vaal yenthu' (wield the sword)."
The department of forensic medicine, Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) has sent the postmortem report to a judicial court and the investigating officer. Two LPG cylinders and three steel drums filled with explosive materials, nails, and glass marbles were found in the car that exploded in front of Sangameswarar temple at Kottaimedu around 4 am on October 23. Ukkadam police had registered a case and arrested six people before the National Investigation Agency took over the investigation.
