AURANGABAD: State Congress president Nana Patole reached Aurangabad on Thursday to review the preparations for the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi.
The rally will enter Maharashtra on November 7 and all the members of Congress are on their toes to make this event a success.
Addressing a press conference here, Patole said the assets of the country are rampantly being sold by the Narendra Modi-led central government.
“Selling of the assets is a conspiracy to make the country poor, and a handful of industrialists rich,” Patole said, adding that Gandhi — through his Bharat Jodo Yatra — is trying to unite the country that is being consciously divided by the ruling party for the sake of votes. Patole also said the country is facing unprecedented challenges and crisis due to the policies that are meant to favour only a handful of people.
During the media interaction, he came down heavily on the state government for looting the common man and extracting the GST in an unprecedented manner.
“The rally should not be seen as a political event. All the political parties and activists that keen on uniting the country against the forces that are dividing it are being invited and welcomed with open arms to join the movement,” Patole said.
Stating that rally has managed to generate tremendous response from different parts of the country, Patole said it will receive an unprecedented response in Maharashtra.
