PRAYAGRAJ: Two criminals were injured and arrested following an encounter near Kushalpur trisection road on Manda-Koroan highway late Wednesday night, police said.
The police also seized two 0.315 bore pistols along with three live cartridges, Rs 34,500 cash and one bike from their possession. SP (trans Yamuna) Saurabh Dixit said: “Acting on a specific tip-off that two robbers – who had allegedly looted cash from a Jan Sewa Kendra manager at Barhakala village on October 13, were on their way to execute another crime, a joint police team of special operation group (SOG) and Manda police intensified checking and intercepted a bike on trisection road.”
When the cops asked them to stop the bike, the duo opened fire. The police too retaliated leading to injuries to the duo identified as Saurabh Mishra alias Akash Payasi and Monu Bhartiya, residents of Urwa and Barhakala respectively.
They were first taken to Manda community health center and later shifted to SRN Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable. Police said the duo has revealed the names of two more members of gang and two more police teams have been assigned to nab them.
Police claimed that the house of Monu Bharatiya was located at a stone’s throw distance of the Jan Sewa Kendra’s manager’s house in Baharkala village.
