JAIPUR: After former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot alerted the Congress leadership to take note of PM Nrendra Modi's praise of Ashok Gehlot as the senior most chief minister and drawing a parallel with Ghulam Nabi Azad, minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said there was nothing wrong in the praise.
Khachariyawas said here on Thursday, “Keep aside politics. It takes 50 years to become an Ashok Gehlot. There is no doubt about it, Gehlot is absolutely senior in politics, age, and experience.”
“Be it Ashok Gehlot or former chief ministers Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Mohanlal Sukhdia, they all deserve respect irrespective of their political affiliations,” said the minister.
However, he said he respects all leaders and in politics, everybody has the right to speak up their minds.
A day earlier, Mahesh Joshi, the party chief whip and PHED minister who was among the three to get AICC notices for indiscipline for allegedly organising a meeting parallel to the CLP on September 25, said, “Serving notices does not amount to indiscipline. We have sent replies to the notices, and if the party high command seeks further clarification, it would also be provided.” He advised Pilot to look back into his own past. Pilot had demanded that a decision on notices should be taken soon along with settling the state leadership issue. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is trying to get a foothold in the desert state sees it as an opportunity in the power struggle in the ruling party.
