16-year-old held for rape and murder of minor in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi: Police on Thursday arrested a 16-year-old boy for the rape and murder of a minor girl at Koralli village in Aland taluk in Kalaburagi district. The boy is also from the same village. On Tuesday evening, the girl, who had gone out to attend nature's call, was found dead in a sugarcane field. Preliminary investigations suggested that she was raped and strangled to death.
A special team formed by Kalaburagi SP Isha Panth detained three minors within 24 hours. However, during investigation it was revealed that the 16-year-old accused minor had committed the crime.
The accused followed the girl when she was going to attend nature’s call in a field in the village. According to police, he killed her fearing that she might complain against him.
