Belagavi: Transport minister B Sriramulu challenged opposition leader Siddaramaiah to declare the constituency he will contest in the next assembly election before talking about ability.
At a press conference here on Thursday evening, he replied to Siddaramaiah, who had asked media persons in the morning if Sriramulu could win from Molakalmuru. Sriramulu said people in Badami are now waiting for him to give a befitting answer.
“I don’t need to answer vagabonds like Siddaramaiah, who is roaming across the state for a constituency. Being a CM, he miserably lost at his own Chamundeshwari constituency. I have never done politics like you. You backstabbed everyone like
HD Deve Gowda, DK Shivakumar, G Parameshwara while staying close to them. In my political career of 30 years, I contested seven elections and won six,” Sriramulu said.
He alleged that, being a leader from a backward community, Siddaramaiah did nothing for that community, even if he could. “He did not form a commission to study reservation for backward communities. Now he is questioning my loyalty,” he said.
He justified his night stay on Wednesday under the bridge of Vedavati River at BD Halli in Ballari district, saying there is no politics in this matter. “As I went there, the work that needed three days was completed in just two days. I went there because there is an urgent need for water supply for 3 lakh hectares of land in Karnataka and
Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
Earlier in the day, he called upon party leaders of Belagavi district to participate in the state-level ST Convention organized at Ballari on November 20. He said a minimum of 25,000 people from Belagavi district should attend the meet.
