Minor girl found raped, murdered in Aland taluk

KALABURAGI: A minor girl was raped and murdered at a village in Aland taluk in Kalaburagi district on Tuesday. The half-naked body of the 14-year-old girl was found in a sugarcane field on Tuesday evening. Kalaburagi SP Isha Panth told reporters that the girl’s guardians said she had gone out of her house around 3pm to attend nature’s call and did not return even after 6pm. The girl was staying at her aunt’s house. Her aunt searched for her in the village and other villagers joined her search.
One of the girl’s footwear was found about 100 metres from the village and another after 500 metres. They started to search for her near the sugarcane field where the second footwear was found and then found her body. The villagers then alerted police.
It is said that the girl was a native of a village in Afzalpur taluk in Kalaburagi district and she was staying with her aunt in the village in Aland taluk to continue her schooling. She was studying in a government school in the village. She had returned from her village on Tuesday after celebrating Deepavali.
It said that the girl may have been dragged to the field before being raped and murdered. Villagers said they found scratches on the girl’s body and her veil was tightly wound around her neck. Additional SP Prasanna Desai, Aland DSP Ravindra Shirur and Aland CPI Basu Chavan visited the spot.
