Mangaluru:
BJP state president and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and other BJP leaders, participated in the Bhumi puja held for the construction of a new house, for the family of slain BJP worker Praveen Nettaru, at Bellare in Sullia taluk on Wednesday.
The house with a plinth area of approximately 2,700 sq ft, will be constructed by the BJP for the family, said Kateel, after taking part in the Bhumi puja, that was held in the presence of Praveen’s parents Shekhar Poojary and Ratnavathi, his wife Nuthana, and other family members. Kateel said, “Praveen had dreamt of constructing a house for the family before his death. Accordingly, the party is committed to construct a house at a cost of approximately Rs 60 lakh. Nettaru was hacked to death by anti-nationals. The party is with his family. The Yuva Morcha leader had worked in organising the party. We will not measure his work through money. His death is a huge loss to the party. We will be with the family till the end, by extending support,” he said.
Further, the MP said that the house will be constructed as per the plan prepared by the family. “The family also wanted the party to construct a house for them, after the untimely demise of Praveen. We will bear all the expenses for the construction, that has been entrusted to Mugrody Constructions, and the contractor has promised to complete the work by May,” said Kateel.
“As promised, the state government has given a job to Praveen’s wife Nutana. The prime accused in Praveen’s murder have been arrested. The government has decided to punish all those who were directly and indirectly involved in the murder of Praveen,” said Kateel.
Praveen’s wife Nuthana thanked everyone for supporting the family. She appealed to the government to ensure that all the accused who were responsible for the murder, are arrested and punished.
Minister for social welfare Kota Shrinivas Poojari, fisheries minister S Angara and MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor were present.
Praveen Nettaru was hacked to death in front of his broiler shop in Bellare, by three motorbike-borne miscreants, when he was heading home on July 26.
Kateel, in particular, suffered a major setback following the murder.
The MP has decided to take the lead, and ensure that the construction is completed as soon as possible. A day after Praveen was cremated, chief minister Basvaraj Bommai handed over a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to the kin of Praveen, while the BJP handed over Rs 25 lakh, and Yuva Morcha had given Rs 15 lakh to the family.
