Ludhiana:
BJP councillor Manju Aggarwal and BJP local bodies cell district president Inder Aggarwal on Wednesday demanded details about Smart City projects and funds received under various Union government-funded schemes from the municipal corporation (MC) commissioner after meeting her at the zone-A office near Mata Rani Chowk.
Inder Aggarwal said that ever since the Modi government took charge, funds were allocated under various national schemes like the Swachh Bharat Mission, AMRUT scheme, National Clean Air Programme and Smart City mission. He said he has asked the commissioner various details of the Smart City projects like project reports, list of completed and pending projects, and allocated and used funds. He claimed they asked about funds from other schemes too, because the machinery which was purchased under these schemes is gradually turning into “scrap” and the employees have stopped using these vehicles, terming them “useless”.
Meanwhile, Manju Aggarwal said that she has inquired about the same from the commissioner in her capacity as a councillor, so they could further tell the public what her party, the BJP, did for the city. She said many of the works are carried out under the Central government’s schemes, but they were not apprised about the same. She said they will collect the said details and will then submit their suggestions to the MC officials for implementing these schemes in a better way. She claimed the party was afraid that the machinery purchased under these schemes has become like the “city buses”.
