JAIPUR: A five-year-old girl died after she fell off a four-storey house in Vidyadhar Nagar on Tuesday.
SHO of Vidyadhar Nagar police station Virendra Kureel said that Aliyah was playing on the terrace of her house while her mother was putting clothes to dry in Sector 8 of Vidyadhar Nagar. The girl slipped through the balcony and got stuck on some cables before falling on the road.
"As the girl landed on the road, people rushed to her rescue. The neighbours also raised an alarm which drew her mother's attention. They also informed the Vidyadhar Nagar police station about the mishap. She was transported to SMS hospital where she died late on Tuesday night after succumbing to injuries. The doctors tried to save her, but her condition kept deteriorating and succumbed to fatal injuries."
The Vidyadhar Nagar police said that they had received the information of the girl's death on Wednesday early morning. The girl's father, Sharukh said that he ekes out a living by plying e-rickshaw in the city. A native of Chimanpura village in Shahpura tehsil in Jaipur (Rural). He was inconsolable at her daughter's death even as his friends and relatives tried to console him. Sharukh and his wife with their two kids had moved to Vidyadhar Nagar about 15 days ago. They were living as tenants there.
Police said that the girl's body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem. They said that the girl had severe head injuries and died during the treatment.
