BHUBANESWAR: The higher education department with the help of state public universities will bring changes in the model syllabus for undergraduate courses, implemented in 2019, in a bid to align it with the National Education Policy (NEP).
The entire syllabus will be divided into six fields - physical sciences, biological sciences, humanities, social sciences, business and commerce and language and literature. Six universities will coordinate in these six areas while preparing the model syllabus, official sources said.
"While preparing the model syllabus for UG courses in 2019, we had set a target to change it in 2022. NEP is another reason for revisiting the syllabus this year. We hope the final syllabus will be ready within a few months. We want to implement it from the 2023-24 academic year," said Asoka Kumar Das, vice-chairman, Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC).
He said changing the model syllabus will be a big exercise.
"It will include six committees of universities headed by an apex committee at OSHEC level to make the rules and regulations. The committees will include the boards of studies of the universities. They will also include all NEP provisions while changing the curriculum," he added.
