Munugode polling under way, huge voter turnout likely
HYDERABAD: Huge voter turnout is expected for Munugode bypoll with 11.2 per cent of voting percentage recorded till 9.00am and a large number of voters are standing in the queues at 248 polling stations spread across the assembly constituency.
As the political battle is fierce between Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Bharatiya Janatha Party, tense situation prevailed over the entire Munugode.
In the early hours of Thursday, police arrested BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay and detained him in Abdullapurmet police station. He was picked up for staging a protest on the national highway. Bandi Sanjay alleged that the police allowed only TRS leaders outside the constituency to stay put and drove away the opposition leaders.

Telangana chief electoral officer Vikas Raj said, "After conducting the mock polling, we have started the polling by 7am. There are no serious issues with Electronic Voting Machines and VVPATs. Everything under control."
At Kondapur in Chandur mandal, EVM didn't work for half an hour, hence polling was delayed.
TRS candidate Kuskuntla Prabhakar Reddy, and Congress candidate Palvayi Sravanthi cast their votes. However, as Komatireddy Rajagopal reddy, the BJP candidate, has no vote in the constituency, he couldn't cast his vote.

Police seized Rs 10 lakh cash in Mummarajupally in Nampally mandal and Rs 2 lakh Chandur, which was kept ready to be distributed to the voters.
Election Commission of India observer Pankaj Kumar visited the polling stations at Choutuppal.
