PATNA: With 148 new dengue cases registered in the state on Wednesday, the tally for this year crossed the 10,000- mark and reached 10,089. Maximum 115 new cases were registered in Patna on Wednesday, followed by Muzaffarpur where nine people tested positive.
In 2019, Bihar had registered one of the highest cases with 6712 people testing positive for dengue. Wednesday's data shows that this year's tally is 1.5 times more than the 2019 data. Patna alone has registered a total 7754 dengue cases this year so far, followed by Nalanda with 361 cases and Munger with 297 cases in 2022 so far. This year, the death toll due to dengue has reached nine.
According to the data shared by the health department on Wednesday, apart from Patna and Muzaffarpur, third highest number of cases was registered in Vaishali where four persons tested positive, followed by two each in Aurangabad, Bhagalpur, East Champaran and Nawada districts, while one case each from Arwal, Bhojpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Khagaria, Munger, Saran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi and Supaul. Two cases were from outside the state, but had tested positive here.
As on Wednesday, total 147 people were undergoing treatment across the state. In Patna, maximum 28 people are undergoing treatment at NMCH.
