MORBI: The police are gathering evidence and collecting documents in the Morbi bridge collapse as investigation progresses.
The samples sent to the forensic team as well as police went to Dhrangadhra at the residence of two accused who are contractors to see how they were qualified and what they were doing. Also documents were collected from the municipality office.
According to police sources FSL team from the four districts collected the samples from the site where the bridge collapsed and sent it to Gandhinagar FSL for detailed analysis.
The two contractors and accused in this bridge collapse case are Prakash Parmar and his son Devang Parmar are native of Dhrangadhra town. The prosecution already submitted before the court that these two were not qualified for the work.
The investigation team went to Dhrangadhra taking these two accused with them to see what kind of work they were doing and gathering the evidence that in what way they were not qualified and even though why they were assigned the work of bridge repairing.
A police officer close to the investigation also said that the police on Wednesday collected the substail documents from the office of Oreva group and on Thursday collected documents related to bridge from the office of Morbi municipality to establish the nature of the work assigned to the Oreva group that too without tender and communication between two organisations.
According to the police, a total of 135 people died when the hanging bridge collapsed on Sunday. The last person succumbed to the injuries in hospital on Tuesday, thereafter no person died and all the injured people are stable. The search team did not find any dead bodies thereafter.
