Social media platforms are abuzz with the King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan's 57th birthday on Wednesday.

From B-town colleagues and industry friends to fans, birthday wishes for the superstar have been pouring in on Twitter.

Wishing King Khan on his birthday, Vedanta Resources Limited Chairman Anil Agarwal took to the micro-blogging site to reveal that SRK played an important role in the Cairn India takeover, which was acquired by Vedanta in 2011.

Explaining his point further, the mining boss said that the acquisition was possible only because of the actor's iconic 2007 movie 'Om Shanti Om'.

Agarwal repeated the epic Hindi dialogue from the Farah Khan-directorial, " Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho, toh puri kainaat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jati hai..." This dialogue is an exact translation from Paulo Coelho's best-seller 'The Alchemist' - "When you want something, the whole universe conspires to make it happen."

The billionaire industrialist said that he could only get the Cairn bid because SRK's words stayed with him since the release of the film.

"My dream of getting the bid for Cairn became a reality after the release of ('Om Shanti Om'), and this dialogue by SRK has stuck with me since. A very happy birthday to our Badshah," he wrote.

At midnight on Wednesday, the Badshah of Bollywood greeted scores of admirers stationed outside his Bandra home 'Mannat', which is one of the popular landmarks of Mumbai.

After a no-show last year, the actor revived his annual ritual of meeting fans from the balcony of his sea-facing bungalow. The road leading up to the star's house was chock-a-block with fans, who were singing birthday songs for their idol, flashing torchlight from their smartphones.

The actor will be spending the day with family, friends and fans.

He celebrated a quiet birthday last year, which came days after his eldest child Aryan was released on bail on October 30 in an alleged drug case.

To celebrate his 57th birthday, production banner Yash Raj Films on Wednesday re-released his iconic 1995 romantic drama 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' across the country.

On the work front, SRK, who was last seen in the 2018 film 'Zero', has three film releases lined up for next year. There is the high-octane spy thriller 'Pathaan', Atlee-directorial 'Jawan' and Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki'.
