Jaipur: The 42-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) inspector held for drug peddling admitted to having transported a large amount of opium through local autorickshaw drivers from hilly areas of the Northeast, said Jaipur police.
ACP (Chomu) Rajendra Singh Nirwan said Rajendra Kudi was posted in Manipur and had been smuggling drugs since 2019. He said Kudi himself regularly consumed opium.
Arrested on Sunday, Kudi was selected for the BSF in 2003. He was held with his two aides and nearly 4kg of opium was found in his house in Jaipur.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Ajay Pal Lamba said Jaipur police has shot a letter to the BSF along with a copy of the FIR to inform them about Kudi.
Meanwhile, police said the accused had also purchased drugs from Assam and Nagaland. “The primary probe has indicated that the accused used auto drivers to buy opium from hilly areas. He brought these packets to Jaipur in trains and sometime in his car,” Nirwan added.
Police had conducted a search at the inspector's residence near Sikar Road and seized 4kg opium, one pistol, two magazines and 12 live cartridges. Police had also arrested Kudi’s two aides, Kailash Devenda and Madan Barala.
Police said Kudi and Devenda sold drugs in Jaipur and Sikar at a higher price. “Kudi bought opium for Rs 1.20 lakh per kg, hid it in his car and brought it to Jaipur. Both Kudi and Devenda then sold the narcotics for Rs 1.80 lakh to Rs 2 lakh a kg,” said the officer, adding that the accused had links with big drug racketeers.
